Parapriacanthus is a genus of sweepers found in the Indian Ocean and the western Pacific. These fish are bioluminescent, carrying light organs on their underside for counter-illumination. Their luciferase is a kleptoprotein, acquired through their diet of bioluminescent ostracods.
